What does the Dictionary writer do,
with so many entries to type
about what is what
and who is who?
As he makes his way
through the Ays and the Bees
and each and every sea,
how does he keep his sanity
as he writes his way through the Zs
even when he hasn't had any for himself?
Oh, the poor Dick must feel sick –
What words he must want to say! –
when he finally finishes
and already, the next edition
is due.
